Winter Yao, PEPrincipal
Winter is responsible for the direction and coordination of operational activities at Beyond. Winter has been involved with geotechnical analysis and design of various projects in US and Canada including wind/solar energy facilities, highway bridges, embankments and MSE walls, buildings, underground utilities/tunnels, municipal water/wastewater treatment facilities, industrial/chemical tank farms, manufacturing facilities and chemical plants, slope stability evaluation of dams/levees, pavement design and remediation for highways, airports, streets, heavy industrial and seaport facilities, site inspection and engineering support during construction.
Siew Lim, MSPrincipal
Siew is responsible for Beyond’s overall company finance, HR/talent management and implementation of information technology. Siew is skilled at creating vision, identifying opportunities, increasing efficiency, and delivering strong financial performance for company’s sustainable growth. Siew holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering specialized in quality control, system implementation, and project management, and is recognized for establishing, growing and managing top performing engineering teams.
Ken Sapian, BS in Engineering ManagementAssociate Principal / Business Development Director
Ken is recognized for his executive leadership and diverse experiences in geotechnical and construction observation/inspections for all sizes of commercial, municipal and residential projects, as well as extensive experience with highway and power plant facilities. As Beyond’s Business Development Director, Ken is responsible for initiating marketing effort, managing team activities, securing and supporting executive communication, and developing appropriate business value messages. Ken brings a “whatever it takes” mentality and has the proven ability to develop successful solutions.
Ed Brannan, PEAssociate Principal / CMT Group Manager
Ed is responsible for construction materials testing (CMT) services in Beyond’s Round Rock office. He has over 20 years of CMT experience with various projects in the US, including utility scale wind/solar energy facilities, commercial and retail centers/complexes, hospitals, educational facilities, miscellaneous steel and concrete structures such as retaining walls, detention basins and water storage tanks, underground utilities, municipal water/wastewater treatment facilities, ground penetrating radar scanning of concrete and earth, multi-family residential facilities, roadway improvements, and forensic investigation of structural component failures.
Joseph Chen, PhDAssociate Principal / Round Rock Lab Manager
Joseph’s work includes overseeing operation of Beyond’s Round Rock geotechnical and materials laboratory including technical training, quality control, equipment calibration/management, proficiency samples, AASHTO/USACE accreditations, and annual compliance audits, as well as overall technical support to Beyond’s West Texas and New Mexico laboratories. Joseph has extensive experience in advanced geotechnical, geo-environmental and materials testing, and is well recognized for his diverse testing experience in ASTM committees.
Johnny FranksAssociate Principal / CMT Group Manager
Johnny is Beyond’s Midland CMT Group Manager with 18 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspection and geotechnical investigation. Johnny has extensive experience in testing of HMAC, concrete, aggregate and soil as well as special inspections. He has worked on and managed various projects from oil/gas, transportation, commercial, residential, solar and wind power generation. Johnny’s responsibilities include project management, direct supervision and training of field technicians and interfacing with clients to coordinate all aspects of testing, along with bringing the “can-do” attitude to Beyond!
Edgar ZapataCMT Group Manager
Edgar’s previous laboratory and field experience has allowed him to gain valuable technical skills in the field of construction materials testing and inspections. He has performed inspection and testing services in both the public and private sector across West Texas, including oil/gas facilities, pipelines, power delivery structures, airports and roadways, commercial and retail development, municipal projects, and industrial facilities. Edgar’s responsibilities include overseeing Beyond’s Midland laboratory operation, and coordinating the West Texas office team. His emphasis is providing high level of service on every project by collaboration, communication and timely response.
